DS-700, a “Serial-to-Ethernet Device Server”, is designed to meet most common requirements of Internet/Ethernet applications, and enables users to remotely control their serial devices through Ethernet network. Most devices are not equipped with network ports, and it is “Device Server” that empowers those devices embracing the ability of Ethernet.

DS-700 works as a bridge connecting RS-232/485/422 devices and the Ethernet network. In addition, DS-700 goes with the VxComm utility, provided by ICP DAS for step-by-step configuration. The VxComm utility is able to virtually turn a DS-700’s COM port into a standard PC’s; in turn, you can keep your original application software unmodified, and run it directly! Since the high-efficiency OS, user-friendly setting, and portable size are in its blood, DS-700 can easily meet the demand of network-enabled applications.

“ESD Protection” & “Frame Ground”: The DS series offer TVS diode ESD protection technology, protecting your system from being damaged by the high potential voltages.

How does TVS diode work?

Under normal operating conditions, the TVS diode presents high impedance (appears as an open circuit) to the protected component. When the voltage is beyond the limits, the TVS diode avalanches providing a low impedance path for the transient current. As a result, the transient current is diverted away from the protected components and shunted through the TVS diode. The device returns to a high impedance state after the transient threat passed.
