The WinCon-8000 is a leading edge embedded platform of ICP DAS with an Intel Strong ARM CPU running a Windows CE .NET operating system. When compared to the standard Window O.S., Windows CE.NET has some advantages, including hard real-time capability, small core size, fast boot speed, interrupt handling at a deeper level, achievable deterministic control and low cost. Using Windows汹CE .NET in the WinCon-8000 gives it the ability to run PC-based Control software such as Visual Basic .NET, Visual C#, Embedded Visual C++, SCADA software, Soft PLC …etc. The WinCon-8000 supports PLC-style technology of data acquisition and remote control. Its combined advantage gives you all of the best features of both traditional PLCs and Windows capable PCs. Furthermore, WinCon-8000 is a cost-effective choice as a replacement for a regular PC or PLC based control system. The Wincon-8000 gives you all of the best features of both traditional PLCs and Windows capable PCs. The WinCon-8000 includes a VGA port allowing the user to choose a regular LCD monitor for display of HMI application, USB port allowing the user to connect with USB device for storage or touch monitor, Compact Flash memory for storage of program and data, as well as the PS/2 for data input.

Inheriting almost all hardware features from W-8X3X, W-8X4X has the same user interface and OS features. The only difference between W-8X4X and W-8X3X is that W-8X4X adopts 2 USB ports and two 10/100M Ethernet ports instead of 2 PS2 jacks. In the left side connect the standard computer interface like 15 pin VGA port monitor (can support the touch screen as HMI device), two USB 1.1 ports, and two Ethernet ports (10/100Base-T). In the middle and right-side area, you can plug in the ICPDAS’s I-8K and I-87K series I/O modules. The W-874X can plug in 7(max.) local I/O modules and W-834X for 3(max.) local I/O modules. There is no I/O slot for W-804X, so it can’t plug in any local I/O modules. On the under lift side, The COM2 is a standard 5 wire RS232 com port. You can connect the standard RS232 device (modem …). The COM3 is standard RS485 port. You can connect to the RS485 devices like ICPDAS’s products I-7K series I/O modules and I-87KX expansion unit.

Windows CE.NET 4.1 operating system is resident in the flash memory of the WinCon-8000 series CPU module. User's programs can be saved in external storage areas, such as Compact Flash Card and USB drive or downloaded to RAM at run time through the LAN or USB . ICPDAS's SDK to control the I-8000, I-7000 series I/O modules is provided for easy development of user applications using Visual Basic .NET, Visual C# or Embedded Visual C++. The included WinCon Utility is a convenient tool which enables system configuration, monitoring and software update.
